The roads and buses network have long been an area of discussion amongst residents, when Pinder and the team have been on the doorstep listening to residents express their views.
Last week the Conservative Prospective Member of Parliament, Pinder Chauhan invited the Roads and Buses Minister, Richard Holden MP to Bedford to meet with her and the Mayor of Bedford Tom Wootton to discuss the funding for buses. Despite Bedford missing out on the funding pot of £20m it emerged that the current Member of Parliament has not approached the Minister to discuss the issue.
Pinder has written to the Minister to ask what additional funding can be awarded to Bedford and Kempston.
The Mayor of Bedford also requested a meeting with Richard Holden MP, who will be inviting the portfolio holder Cllr Jim Weir. Pinder Chauhan and the Mayor of Bedford to Westminster to discuss what funding streams are available to support local communities.
Following this meeting it has been wonderful to see Bedford Borough awarded £546,757 in new funding for bus services earlier this week and look forward to Pinder, the Mayor of Bedford and Cllr Jim Weir meeting the Minister to discuss further funding programmes for the Bedford Borough area.
