The population across Bedford Borough has risen by almost 30,000 people in the last decade. That means even more people relying on our local NHS services, but our current Labour MP has failed to make the case for more services for Bedford.
The North Wing hospital has bee derelict for many years and has been an eye sore since the fire in 2019. The Labour MP has represented the area since 2017 and there has been no improvement and no efforts made to utilise this space. This site could be used to support so many residents in need of the NHS and help reduce waiting times. That is why i am committed to supporting the rebuilding of the ruined North Wing which will bring vital services to our area.
Local Conservatives already worked with the Government, to deliver a new community diagnostics centre at the North Wing hospital site. Once fully operational the new centre will deliver extra tests, checks and scans for residents in Bedford and Kempston, helping to cut down the Covd-19 backlogs and get local people diagnosed quicker.
This is why I'll work with residents, Doctors and NHS staff as well as the Government to ensure our schools are fully funded with the best facilities.
